COMBUSTION DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER

Tour Engine, Inc. (TEI) is seeking candidates for the position of Combustion Development Engineer at its San Diego, CA headquarters.  The successful candidate will work on the combustion development for TEI’s innovative split-cycle internal combustion engine.  Responsibilities include working in TEI’s state-of-the-art engine test cell directing and over-seeing specific tests as well as conducting post-test data analysis and simulation.  A BSME is required and an MS is desirable.

Experience in mechanical engineering work with an emphasis on combustion engines, thermodynamics and combustion chemistry is required.  At least two years of combustion development in an engine or university laboratory is required.  Experience with design of experiments and numerical simulation (e.g. Converge, KIVA, STAR-CD) as well as familiarity with emissions regulations is highly desirable. Project management experience is considered a plus.

It is assumed that the candidate is familiar with the principles and operation of a state-of-the-art engine test cell and related equipment (including emissions gas analyzers, dynamometer, ignition and fuel systems and data acquisition system) and is able to interpret and correlate the measurement results relative to engine and emissions performance

DURABILITY DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER

Tour Engine, Inc. (TEI) is seeking candidates for the position of Durability Development Engineer at its San Diego, CA headquarters.  The successful candidate will work on the durability development for TEI’s innovative split-cycle internal combustion engines.  Responsibilities include over-seeing specific tests in TEI’s state-of-the-art engine test cell as well as conducting post-test data analysis. A BSME is required and graduate work is desirable.

Experience in mechanical engineering with an emphasis on combustion engines, material science, surface coatings and design of experiments is required.  Experience with sealing and oil-control of engine power cylinders and their impact on emissions is highly desirable.  At least two years of durability development in an engine or university laboratory is required.  Project management experience is considered a plus.

It is assumed that the candidate is familiar with standard tribological test equipment and procedures (including surface roughness testers, 3-D profilometers, hardness testers, oil viscosity tester), the interpretation of wear patterns on sliding surfaces, the interpretation of oil analysis results, the measurement of oil consumption (gravimetric or exhaust based systems), and temperature measurement (temperature plugs, thermocouples).

MECHANICAL ENGINEER INTERN

Tour Engine, Inc. (TEI) is seeking candidates for a part-time position (10-15 hours/week) for a Mechanical Engineer Intern at its San Diego, CA headquarters.

The successful candidate will work as part of the team developing TEI’s innovative split-cycle internal combustion engines.

Responsibilities include working in TEI’s state-of-the-art engine test cell helping to prepare and run experiments as well as conducting post-test data analysis.

Experience with GT-Power and Excel is highly desirable. Mechanical Engineering studies (seniors only), or, preferably at the graduate level plus experience with, or course work on, internal combustion engines is required.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT INTERN

Tour Engine, Inc. (TEI) is seeking candidates for a part-time position (15 – 30 hours/week) for a Business Development intern at its San Diego, CA headquarters.
